Bay Area Asthma Health Program
The Bay Area Asthma Health Program (BAAHP) was established to help address the issue of asthma in the Bay Area. Our asthma educators are certified in the American Lung Association’s “Breathe Well, Live Well,” which is a validated asthma management program for adults.

What is Asthma?
Asthma is a breathing disorder that causes your airways to become inflamed and constrict, making it difficult to breathe.
Cost of Asthma
Health: Asthma can make it difficult to breathe and may trigger coughing & wheezing. Severe episodes can be life-threatening. 1
Social: Asthma is responsible for a significant number of missing school and work days, which can interfere with education and social/professional development.2
Economic: Projected medical cost of asthma in California is estimated to be about $26.3 billion from 2015-2020.3
